A Mother’s Faded Rose
A faded flattened red rose lies
pressed between the bible page
Reminder of a night so long ago
another time another age
A night of silk dresses and tuxedos
corsage of baby breath and roses
Limos and music and the magic of love
Cameras, lights and smiling poses
For a moment she’s in that car again
reliving the passion of the night
Energy and youth colliding in lust
that was gone at mornings light
Now eighteen years of heartache
raising her little girl alone
She tries to hold the tears back
and beg her baby to stay home
But she knows her wings are eager
her eyes are open wide
She kisses her cheek, hugs her tight
a young man holds out a rose of red
It will be a long sleepless night
She’ll wait up for her in her lonely bed.
well written, Felix ...
And the boys well that's a different story....like father like son....doing the Tshongololo Jive...their problem...they are old enough to be careful!!
