a poet writes what’s in his heart
the words like raindrops fall
on blank sheets of white they appear
in answer to the poet’s call
sometimes words drip heartache
laughter often giggles aloud
anger sometimes froths the page
or hero worship tall and proud
bare our souls to the reader’s eyes
our hearts to the world to see
brave the critics slashing tongues
if with us they disagree
i have written poems to cheer the lonely
poems to ease a broken hearts pain
poems to say the angels are waiting
to take a loved one home again
poems to give encouragement
words of congratulations to you
poetry to make you laugh
and ones to make you think it’s true
one thing i know for certain
i only write what i believe
the cost is sometimes heavy
a cost a poets left to grieve.
you are right on with this one my friend
Loved it, felt it, held it close

I think we, the poets, do tend to speak from our mind and heart, and when that happens our expressions are genuine, we are also highly empathetic, so we are capable of feeling other people's pain and misery, thus in many instances we write to comfort the others.
A wonderful write, Felix!
