ever have one of those magic moments when you know that a child you hold in your arms be it son, daughter grandchild or friend when you know without a doubt that they love you and the moment will live forever...

Making Memories

Upon the rockbound shore we sit to watch

The magic sun slip deep into the sea

The music of the lapping waves caress

This old tired heart that beats inside of me

I hear and feel her little heart

Beating beneath my hand like a dove

Magic moments sent from heaven

A taste of what heavens like above

On my lap I hold in these rough old hands

The one who will always keep alive my memory

Her eyes and mine for a moment in time

Share this special place that will be our history

She takes my big thumb in her tiny little hand

Little britches and her Poppy in our memories twilight

Sweet good night kisses, one more hug if you please

Good night princess…goodnight!

What a beautiful poem, and what a beautiful photo!

Very sweet. I have two secretaries. They are mother and daughter. Two years ago Christmas the daughter had a baby girl of her own. I asked her to return to work as soon as possible, with baby in tow. The baby, Ryleigh is now 20 months old and is the light of the office. I can't imagine how we ever managed without a child in our midst to take the pressure off our days. Your poem conveys that same sensation. The purity of a child's love is second to none. ~ Sara

Felix,
I know the word precious has been used a good amount on this write, but there just isn't any other description that fits the need.
Not only do your words pound in the love and admiration you have and hold for this child, but it puts so much emphasis on who you truly are as a person.
Again I'm going to tell you what a joy it really is to not only read your heart, but to feel it as well.

That really is one beautiful kid!

absolutely MAGIC, Felix, and funnily enough, that was just what I was thinking, looking at the delightful pic: the size of your ENORMOUS hands compared to little Sweetheart's... and who wouldn't feel safe and loved by those? No wonder you're her world - one that will never give her anything but the care and nurture she so deserves. You are lucky to have each other and to share this mutual delight. Perfect, as evidenced by your brightly-lit faces and this ecstatic write. You have spread your joy to me - can't wait to be a whacky Gran! LOL Kate xx

Oh Felix, this is so very precious! And magical. "Little Britches and her Poppy". That moment in time, when you knew, that you knew she loves you is a treasure of love that will never fade away, but will only deepen and grow as the years pass. The wonderful part is that along with that treasure chest of love, will also be added other special gifts of memories that have not happened yet. I hope that you are making a scrapbook for her with your poetry about the two of you, and photos. Such a treasure to be passed on to her children, and their children. (sniff) So beautiful. Love, Leah
