I never realized till I retired this spring how much I truly love the beach...I have to sell a best seller cause I really need a beach house...

A Mile of Sand and Hope

By Felix L. Perry

I walked a mile of sand today

Along a surf tossed beach

Threw away my socks and shoes

Chased a sea bird out of reach

Skipped stones across the water

Made angels in the sand

Built a castle to the stars

I hope you understand

It was my way of living

My protest against time

Age might be an enemy

Empathy a crime

I lay under the burning sun

The wind caressed my skin

I smelled the salt of seven seas

I took a little swim

Salt brine dried upon my lips

Refreshed my life’s outlook

Now I can see a little clearer

The worlds an open book

Sun traded spots with moonbeams

But still I lingered on

Jewelled stars bathed the waves

How could anything be wrong.

Felix-Felix-Felix-- YOur as YOUng as you feel... this reminds me .. of taking your hands OFF the handlebars and FEEling that FREEdom within- YOU enjoy and let the BEACh tAke you away-- only in it's Inspiration ok.... I would live off the beach with ya'- it's been my lifelong dream- but, with all the water sad stories lately- maybe the suberbs are safer- Let it take your mind away and Enjoy my sweet friend- Warmly,Sheee

Well, one thing is for sure- there's nothing wrong with this poem, flows like the sea itself- I can relate to this since getting ill- you realize what is really important in life, like nature- and I agree, time for me to write that bestseller, too! Only, I won't be living off the beach as I am allergic to sunlight!:)

We had a beach house when I was growing up and I loved the time I spent there. The sound of the surf would rock me to sleep and the sounds of sea birds would wake me in the morning. The moon dancing on the water was the last image I did see before slipping into my dreams. Life seemed so complete, peacful and perfect. I hope you get that beach house, Felix. Beautiful poem!
Take care,
Sherry

From title to conclusion, this poem has all the mystic abundance and deep passion of the swelling ocean tides, Felix, and I think MUST be one of your best... it darn well WILL sell good, too!! :)) How many of us can you fit into this your rock'n'roll surf shack, cos we could start quite a commune?! Without a doubt, I think the sea must be the number one inspirational force on this earth - it gives and receives from us endlessly and NEVER runs out of energy or stands still. Just shows how important SPACE and TIME are to the soul. Sheer joie de vivre here which will have us all on the very next plane... Just grab me cosi... :)) LOL K xx

Felix,
Go ahead! Buy a beach house, I know where there is a community of poets and writers that needs a place for an annual reunion! *grin*
Thanks for letting us take that walk with you!

Oh you got me with this one ..love it...here is a little something to share...my very first poem written for AD!!

"To Walk My Beach"
Thursday, November 14, 2002

I walk my beach alone
I walk tall in pain
Holding my head up high
No good to even try
Only you could stop my cry
What is the use of abuse
When your man runs out on boose
And you get bruised
that's no excuse
I refuse to give...yes
I refuse to give
That's what I call been abused
I walk my beach well
Pick up some shell
Looking for some answer
But a heavy swell
what a disaster
Knocks me over
And I cry out of laughter
But now I walk my beach with you
My feet in your feet
My eyes is your eyes
And all I need is my Ocean
My Shell, my Soulmate
My eyes in your eyes
With love abuse instead
That's all I need
That's all I need
Always
Indeed

Love Tinka

I love the title for this one...hey I wonder if Steven Curtis Lance really DOES live in a haunted house. So do I! This is a beautiful piece Felix. I'm hoping you get the best seller you hope for so you can have the home of your dreams...Michelle

Felix,

And when you get that beach house, I'll be living right next door! Siiiggghhhhhh....I love the ocean; so beautiful, so calming...and so powerful! (Especially during hurricanes--now THAT would make me nervous). All the other times, it would be delightful!!

As is this write--beautifully imaged, and I hope you get bestseller AND that house!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)
