I was reading somthing Kate wrote this morning and it really made me think, this is in response...

I read a poem today by my friend Kate

Spoke of a mothers loving feelings word for word

She prefaced wondering what it is a father feels

That compares to a mothers immortal unbiblical cord

A Fathers Love

I thought for a bit back almost thirty years

to a night etched in my brain and heart

when I heard that cry and felt that child

knew no one would ever keep us apart

I wiped the teardrops from my eyes

and touched my baby girls new born skin

as heaven smiled inside my heart and soul

knew there lay someone special there within

I knew from that very first minute of her life

that my world was  changed forever more

that God had given me the perfect gift

a gurgling little girl to love of this I am sure

I watched her grow from baby to toddler

from toddler to stumbling walks to climbing a tree

to little Barbie dreams and strawberry ice cream

to teenage crushes, dreams shared with me

I walked her down the wedding aisle in white

Gave away a  part and it hurt I will not lie

then  stood beside her hospital bed again when

another small gift of love to me began to cry

It's 6:30 am, I don't normally cry at 6;30 am! I have a daughter who's turning 16, so I can relate very well, atleast that is up until the teenage crushes and sharing dreams with me.

What grabed me in your beautiful poem was the length; Our time with our children is much like these few stanzas on a page. We embrace them with ALL of our heart, then they take that first step which is their first step to walking out of our lives. It's like loving several people and watching each one of them disapear from our eyes! The little baby, the todler, the child, the teenager and than finally the young adult that only wishes they could understand what it is that your crying about!

Your poem is simply and lovingly profound!

Thank you for this touching morning cry.

Your review of my posting about Fathers Day reached deeply. I thank you with all resources. Sorry, I haven't read more of your work. Other friendds tell me what I've been missing. Kate's right, and I have the answer; Felix Perry for Father of the Years (that's plural) I am humbled by the response to my writing, and know that you must feel much that way, too.

Felix,

This is stunningly beautiful. You have me crying at the power of your love for your daughter and grandchild. Touching, loving expression. Wonderful poetry ...very uplifting to read. I know a father's love for their children has to be as strong as a mother's because they are a part of you also. Children are the perfect gift given to parents from God. Thank you for sharing. Blessings to you.

How can we not love you, Felix? You are our rock, our tower of strength, our comfort and our shade. As I said yesterday, I think, you bring out TRUE femininity by your overarching patriarchal heart. You give us space to be women without the need to play at being men. Your grace and support leaves a woman free to make her choices in life unhindered, but supported. You extol the roles of both Father and Mother and are thus a pillar of what it means to build community and family. You are a national and international Treasure, and, if it were down to me, you would be up for a Nobel... something... Prize. Yes, yes, I gush even more than usual - but what can I say? You truly crack me up... you are a natural life-giver and life-preserver. Someone needs to bottle you and sell you round the desperate regions of our globe at a very high price! Essence de Felix... hmmm, need to work on that one... :)) You are a GREAT man, Pops - and another cuddly growl of a recital to get a girl all goosey this week! You rock! LOL Kate xx

Felix, this is beautiful. Actually, beautiful doesn't quite describe it. I think you've used all the words and I'm left breathless and speechless. I love how this comes full circle in the end, and another generation is born.

Be well,

Kathy

Now you've gone and made me cry.
Lovely and touching and. . .nothing can compare, can it.
Bless you for being the kind of person from whom a poem such as this springs as naturally as the sun rises in the sky.
A loving father and grandfather. Shouldn't be rare, but it is.
Blessings to all of you,
