The sea makes a strange mistress...

Whispers of the Ocean’s Voice

I remember its scream of yesteryear

come follow me to the world

far across the foamy sea

where beyond the next horizon

will always be a mystery

It once screamed my name

in daring invitation

and youth cannot forgo a dare

I packed a seabag at sixteen years

off to the Labrador coast so dear

It called me to the Arctic

beneath the Northern lights

I marveled at a sea of white

as far as I could see

in the land of endless night

To the out-ports and the cities

to the strangest sites of man

my blood with salt brine ran

the ocean was my mistress

and I her faithful man

Years and youth go quickly

now my seabags packed away

I now come alone to listen for

the ocean to call my name

to whisper to me just once more

I can so understand this yen, Felix, as a landlubber with the desire to live by the sea... but to have been living and working with her, and finding her very essence invading your being day after day, well... that is something that must just be in your spirit forever. You write about this so beautifully that I can almost see you running out on us before you have even stopped to press the "upload" button! Salty sea-dog you surely are! Thank you for your love and good wishes... of course I will be well for you! :)) xxxxxxxKxxxxxxxxx

Excellent images painted here, Felix. It is the dream of every mariner to be called back out to sea and to feel the brine of youth courser, once again, through his veins. Beautiful poem!
Take care,
Sherry

Reminds me of a siren's call, can see her sitting on a rock calling to the seaman. Enjoyed the pictures you created with this poem.

Felix,

The call of the ocean is hypnotic, indeed. You've conveyed it beautifully and perfectly. Let me join you on the seas...especially if it's under the Northern Lights!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I know that call - it's the call of eternity. We mistake its voice when we are young. Nice write, Felix!
