Sad to see history repeat itself over and over...

As Paris Is Burning

In the tower of power the blue serge rolls

Behind mobile barricades of plexi-glass clear

The crowd erupts they’ve just had enough

Of corporate bought rulers enforced fear

A line is drawn and the dark is falling

Hostile eyes on both sides of it stare and glare

The badged, road warriors form a barricade

Rubber bullets strike flesh, and mace blinds eye

Uniforms ordered uphold the peace at any cost

Bloodied youth fall against humanities lie

As Paris burns to the ghetto’s child cries

The moneyed rich watch big screens in awe

Corrupted though see nothing, breathe contented sigh.

Think my crowd must have crossed with Steven's from Normandy... but the West Country is about as far as they got! Can vouch for a bit of the Gallic temperament myself, comme ci comme ca, et la passion enflammee, mais... as you know, the English and French are politically uncomfortable bedfellows - what with the British phlegm and the French fire. So, what with the French also being the Freethinkers of the world, that makes for a hairy and volatile society. I haven't seen pictures, but, reading this, I don't need to. What a day to acknowledge, too, that history does indeed repeat itself! And, in the corridors of power, at Versailles or wherever, guess it will all be handled with the usual Gallic shrug. Strongly imagist and solid write, dear Felix. TY Kate xx Big hug - hope heart's strong and pumping! :))

Yes... sad, indeed, when History is not learned and thus, does not teach. Our failure, really, as makers (and yet students) of History.
Our greater failure, as makers (and always students) of Now, before it becomes shameful History written upon pages of deliberate ignorance. And Paris burns, indeed, dear Felix... and so do many other cities, unseen... because mankind is deliberately blind.

France whose leader is so quick to point out the flaws in our country didn't take a good enough look at his own countries problems.
