November’s Spirit Desire
Like skeletal bones the trees stripped bare
Of rich greens of summer and the gilded, gold of fall
Only the fir and spruce trees hold their dress
As the cold winds from high north do crawl
Springs new seeds of life are now far past
Young buds and sprouts grew old
Summer’s warmth is just sweet memories
Only captured heat this I am told
The snow white wrap of winter’s stole
Has yet to turn the cleanse the earth and hide
The grime and rot of past years trash
Too soon for the flakes of purity that abide
The soul’s coldest time of the year is nigh
Between fall and the Christmas spirit cheer
I will not hark to November’s spirits desire
That can make a man live in blue despair!
