Maritime Sea Blood
I was a crew member on the icebreakers
The coast guard’s prided red and white
Many months away from home
Only lonely late at night
Fog horns bellowed cross the ocean,
Fog rolled in across the sea
The north Atlantic called out
To come and roam with she
I sailed on the CCGS Labrador
And on the Louis St Laurant
On the John A and the Baffin
What more could one man want
In the cold Canadian waters
From Maine to Newfoundland
The ocean became my home land,
I know to some it’s hard to understand
Salt water ran through my veins
Like a river runs to the shore
From the day I saw my first wave
I was hooked forever more
Now my sailing days are finally over
Fond memories linger on and on
Pray tell spread my final ashes
On the Atlantic when I’m gone.
your Brother, John
p.s. You have a great network here, they're good people.
Thanks for sharing my friend...and yes I want my ashes scattered to the ocean too...my last and final wish...that's where I want to be!!

I do understand, from the veins, dear Felix. This is beautiful as a tribute, both to your brother and to the very sea, and as a chant to the true sense of coming home.

Beautiful--you take us on the high seas and make us yearn for adventure. :) And you've been to the North...sigh. :)
