Fine line between depression and sadness...

Little White Pill

Little white pill sits quietly in my hand

Take as required if you understand

Covers turned back mind fast awake

Well my mind let me sleep if I don’t take

Little white pill as required please take

Drug induced illusion of rest no mistake

Troubles and worries lost in the haze

Wipe out reality with drug induced maze

Depression and sadness often darken my mind

I think far too much and forget how to unwind

A little white pill taken only as I require

Too easy a trap that could become a desire

Doctor’s prescribe but my mind will repel

I live with the world an old hippie rebel

Back in the bottle little white pill not tonight

I’ll read till I tire or until new morning light

I have been there, done that. Have done without. Have you thought of moving near the ocean and listening to the waves at night? Knocks you out and cures a lot!!! Read the other reviews and am trying to hold myself back with old hippie helps and new good things. Try some chamomile tea and if it doesn't work, take that little pill. If it can hold us together; then that's all that counts. Take some "Calm" magnesium and blissfully mellow out naturally and fall asleep or try some kava and you will see what I mean. But stay near the bathroom as you try to figure out how much "Calm" magnesium you need!!! Be a woman, take a bath in sea salts and light a candle and relax; just don't fall asleep in there!!!

Felix....just which "little white pill" are you talking about? Nowdays I take one for my blood pressure, but I still remember the ones I took because I felt that sleep was a waste of time. (smile)
Just kidding, I know the feeling of sleepless nights. Oh yeah, supposed to critic your poem...not bad....I enjoyed reading it. Sorry if I'm out of line....ain't slept much.

It's a bitter pill that some cannot swallow. Don't know what that means but some pills are necessary to sustain life.

Counting to one helps just as much ;-) Inhale on one, exhale on one, inhale on one, exhale on one. If you count to one long enough, you clear your mind and bore yourself to sleep.

I'm with you, Felix. Pills aren't the answer for me. I think that means we get sad, not depressed. True depression requires medication.

Hope you get the sleep you need.

Good move Felix, I myself stand to reject anything that thinks for me...asprin is all I will take. However, I do not discount the advantages that some pills can bring to the health of the body and mind. Each has his own need. Enjoyed this piece.

Now take that pill and rest for a little while and your heart problems might repel the onslaught...REBEL YOU!!

Good poem about dependency. I've found that a ten mile mountain hike knocks the worry out of me better than any medication...

Sleep is important but, though I pass out when I take those pills, I never really have a rested feeling in the morning. I say no to drugs whenever possible and opt for a more natural alternative if I can find one. I hope you get some rest, Felix.
Take care,
Sherry
