Sometimes we want love to be so bad that we make it so, or do we...

Poem Artwork

The angels cry from cloudy sky

I hang my head in latent shame

Guilt hangs heavy in my heart

Overlaid by my forgotten pain

I promised her forever love

Promised her my heart to hold

I made that promise cheaply

It grows stale as I grow cold

Hands that once held warmly

Now only cover eyes

Lips that once spoke sweet words

Mumble just falsehood lies

I cannot lay the blame on you

Or you the blame on me

We thought we’d found the answer

That answer just couldn’t be

So alone I watch the flickering fire

Burn what’s left of you and I

The thunder roars it’s over

As you retreat alone I only sigh.

There never is an answer as to why hearts let go, drifting away from one another. I'm sure the Angel's to cry. This is a keeper for me Felix, I absolutely loved this poem. Bravo!

May be that's why we get so much rain here, the things that happen down here on earth is enough to cause the angels to cry as they become discouraged from working so hard to protect us from so many things, even heart break.

So sad and heavy, but still so wonderful done, can't help but to sigh along at the last line,

So beautiful but when I think about it being true; I want to throw my shoe at you!!! Try harder, I cry!!! Stay and make it work, I scream!!! But in your shoes I would probably try until I fell apart. Letting go gracefully is so hard. I don't know if this reflects where you are at now but if it is; I am so sorry honestly and even sorrier for the woman. And it's almost Valentine's Day, Felix!!! The Angels do cry and you can make people cry with your words. Ummm....maybe you better not write me that Valentine that I wanted and needed from you. You have enough on your mind and heart. Oh, tell us the truth!! Is this you or who or what?? Must you remain so mysterious?? I guess so!!! Thanks for sharing this gem with all of us. Gives me shivers of rejection and feeling the pain. Watching the fire burn brings back too many memories for me, F. P.S. Why did you know that you made your promise cheaply or did you not know the ramifications?? Sorry about all the analyzing here but I need to know!!!! Take care and love to you and her, too. Meredith

That is soo beautiful and moving....so many think they've found love in another, but then you realize you carry love within you....it's sad when it comes time for the sharing of that love to end with one, but sometimes we forget that means, it's time to share with another....

this piece flows and moves so elegantly.....

it takes a wise man to learn to accept that when love has gone astray, what remains is being focused on how we make the best of it ...

a moving and honest poem ...

I heard a line in a movie recently where the character says 'we all want to be problemless'. Hearing it made me realize why we feel like failures sometimes. I was drifting with that unattainable goal too; being free of all my problems, but that's just not life. We have to learn to live with the things we can't control...

Much of life's complexity is outside the scope of our perception and imagination. It reflects the ignorance of even the smartest among us. I believe we are in this space and time to learn, including the extremely hard lessons of relations that run out of our control in spite of all effort we've invested in them. When we have it good, we learn little, when we have it difficult we learn a lot. I know this is a clinical assessment of the situation reflected in the words in this poem. But I'm falmiliar with circumstances similar to the one expressed here and the ability to reason is often the only tool we have to overcome our emotions. Thank you for creating and sharing. It was good to be on this page. Take care,

Some things we contrive to be "love" that ultimately is perhaps not so, but only that which we might wish it to be at the time; some things we had no intentions of conjuring or contriving, and yet are irresistible in their outworkings such that you cannot deny their veracity in your heart and soul-being. Personal integrity in all things means truth that comes out of the inner being. At times, such truth is painful, but the greatest respect we can pay each to the other is that we deal with each other in truth, and seek to attribute no blame or to carry false guilt for that which, at the time, was to us the truth of that which we sought and wanted. I am sozzled on deep, deep family relations this evening, such that I scarcely KNOW what truth in interpersonal relations is anymore. So I don't think I will bother to take you up on your offer of "Type or Paste your work here..." as I think this review alone is quite enough, dear Pops. Your honesty is precious, whether it speaks of deep regret, longing or true fulfillment. Letting go of love can be hard and cruel... but the hanging on to false love is ultimately perhaps more of a sham and ultimately more damaging and wasteful for all concerned. TY and bless you, Kate xx
