Girl In The Window
He placed the ring upon her tiny finger
With bended knee professed his heart
They kissed and held each other tenderly
Knowing with the dawn they’d have to part
He told her that the tides would take him out
That the tides would return him safe to her
He told her his ship was master of sea
Be home in one month she could be sure
The days went by and then the weeks
Then the weeks turned to a month gone by
More days, more weeks, another month
No word, she’d just stare out to sea and cry
She’d call his name onto the wind
Hoping it would carry her love safely to his side
She clung to the his promise of his return
Till a message came that said he’d lied
Never found his body, just wreckage strewn about
A picture floated on a piece of driftwood
Of the girl he sadly left behind
Looking it seems out to sea
For something she won’t find!

beatifully crafted poem, Felix ...
'Pea' <3
Fantastic imagery wonderfully written.
Heartbreaking loneliness in each of your perfectly metered rhyme--well done.
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(
So sad this one Felix.
I've heard so very much of lost loves with the sea. Check out www.thewavinggirl.com
Now she was dedicted so much to her love that she met every ship that came into Savannah by waving her white towel...the signal she promised to have when her love came back to fetch her. He never returned but she continued to be faithful and died in her 80's. Her name was Florence Martin...The Waving Girl of Savannah.
You must have tapped into her as your Muse. She would be proud.
