My brother just sent me these old black and whites of my parents just before he shipped out for Europe in WW II

Poem Artwork

some returned

the world was torn apart by war

young men died in bloodied fields forlorn

widows and mother’s grieved at home

and at lonely services they’d mourn

but loving hands held tight to dreams

prayers said every night

Dear God bring my  son, father or husband home

let him survive each tortured fight

some prayers were heard and some were not

my father though survived the bullets whine

to return to his home in Canada

to his wife and kids in time

a love story not of heroes deeds

just faith in God and love

their reuniting ended gave me my life

with divine guidance from above

Such times, such loss, such forbearance and such fortitude and bravery... we do not know the half. Lovely tribute and remembrance here, Pops, and your typical gentleness, love and gratitude. Each story told is unique to the teller and yet there ARE so many OUT there... holding fast to an appreciation of the past is what steadys our feet for the future... What a blessing! :)) TY Kate xx

Dear Felix... son of Felix!
Thank you for sharing a sacred part of all our history ... sacred, because of all the lives involved!
I love the photo of your parents and the rolling plains behind them!
Your poem is the heartfelt truth of so many, and the ending culminates in the New Beginning of You!! A precious gift to the world so in need of healing! (I just read your updated bio, and you are so on track!)
Love & friendship Suzie :-D

Felix, this is a grand write! I just came across some letters in the old house that my father wrote to mom during WW2, along with photos of him and his shipmates in Africa. You know you favor your father I think but with a little added softness of the features from your mother. Thanks for sharing these memories...

Another nostalgic pictire Felix and aa tender poem of love with your family. It is marriages like this that make us all believe in love and faith. My parents were married 66 years before my Dad died. My Mom still goes to his grave and talks to him like he's sitting right there with her.
WE had awesome parents didn't we?

Felix,

A beautiful, compassionate write. My grandmother (Dad's mom) had five sons in war at the same time; thank God, thank God, all returned home. One was a survivor of the Bataan Death March, but it was a near thing...well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

There are lots of prayers goes out in war time.
I'm glad to know your Father made it home. It's eaqually as hard on those that wait, as it is on those fighting the fight. Sometimes even harder, because if the warrior is killed, his reward is peace, leaving those waiting to fight a whole new battle.
Thank You Felix for sharing your family with us.
