Ahhh funny how a memory flashes back at ya sometimes out of the blue, like this one...

Purple bell bottoms and paisley shirts

Go-go boots and tight mini skirts

Beatle hair cuts and rock and roll

Three pairs of white sweat socks

Peace symbols and weird talks

Lights in the gym, dark as a mine

Music like thunder, strawberry wine

Boys on the left, girls on the right

Afraid to ask for a dance

Till the last one of the night

Michelle ma belle, my favorite song

Walk cross the gym seems so damn long

All eyes are watching, to see if you agree

My hands and heart clammy

Hoping you’ll just dance with me

You meet me half way with a twinkling smile

Whisper about time I’ve been waiting a while

Your head on my shoulder my hand on your waist

Swaying clumsily to the music

A touch of teenager heaven I’d taste

These do sound like fun. I once had a client who wanted me to paint her large kitchen that pepto pink and bright blue like they had in the 50's cafe so she could set up her juke box and have a sock hop for their high school reunion. Hope there weren't any broken ankles...

Lots of memories brought out in this one. Even more so with the prom coming up in another week. But,!!!!!!!!!!! I think kids dance more than when I was in school, or maybe it was just that our school was really small. lol You can bring out the best thoughts with most everything. Thanks for sharing this one. Harmones running wild, knowing what to do, but scared as hell to try for fear of rebuke. Yes, I remember that well.

Don't ya just love this. That was my "hey day" too. Sock hops and pink carnations...spin the bottle and drive in movie shows. Yes Felix this poem is rich in nostalgia. I love thoe days when every word in a song was clear...When we kissedtil our lips were swollen.

Thanks for this one. I'll keep it.

Oh man, this took me back. But for me, it wasn't so sweet like you wrote. It was all teenage angst. Sweet write Felix. Made me feel good. ~ Sara
