The Game
when the Tigers took the field
the Orioles came to bat again
I stood at the mound
at the plate my brother John insane
he tapped his sneakers with the bat
so I spit on my ball to show no fear
he swung a few times like Willie Mays
I pulled down my cap and gave my glare
I checked each of the empty bases
hoping someone would try to steal home plate
then turned back to the impatient batter
okay brother time to meet your fate
two strikes, three balls, bases full
it was time to do or die
the windup came and I let her rip
you’re outtttt, I heard the cry
well we ran for home and supper
laughing all the way
tomorrow we would actually have a game
but today we just got to play!
You could never strike me out, you always walked me.
Just so that Cynthia knows, I'm the cute one on Felix's right, and he's the old guy beside me.
Love ya Bro,
John

For the love of the game, you and your brothers played. That's the way it should be. The big leaguers could learn a lesson from this nostalgic, beautiful write; thank you.
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
You've hit a grand slam with me!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
An exciting tribute to childhood!
Love, Suzie :-D
