When My Time Comes

Well histories remember or judge the way I live

Books record mistakes I made will forget how to forgive

Well they say I could have done a whole lot more

To aid the sick and help the poor

Well my loved one cry for the memories

Times shared together and passions spent

Can I be one with the universe

Was I really here when there I went

Well my epithet read he was just a man

A husband, father, brother and friend

Will the mourners cry false tears of grief

Is that the way it’s going to end

Is death the disease or the earthly cure

When my time comes I wonder if…

I’ll pass through that great door..

or hear it slammed forever more

Felix,

Hopefully, not for a long, long time. But we never know--an excellent, thought provoking write of introspection, very well done.

(((((HUGS))))) and love, Karla.

... and I can hear that haunting echo resounding and rebounding off of every wall and dead end that I have carved for myself in this life, Felix. My own premise for whether the door will stand open or shut depends not on what I "have or haven't done", but what I "have or haven't believed"... which forms the grounds on which I then "do or don't do"... if you get my drift. We can never "earn" our way to heaven, I don't believe; it is a birthright, a gift of entry due to faith in The Gate, The Way, The Truth, The Life. I know who and what I believe, and you tell us in the most convincing of ways that it is good to be sure of these things at EVERY moment in our lives cos we never know when each might be our last. So, by receiving grace is how to "curry favour with God" (!!) in my book... but, as far as impressing your life upon others, then I have to say that your "presence" will always act as a light and a guide to others, and your humility and love a shelter to those in need of support and rest. A man of the sea, you are a TREMENDOUS port in a storm!! :)) And doubtless a beautiful beach on a warm and sunny day, too!! We love you, Felix... and God does too!! :)) LOL Kate xx

A beautiful picture, only outdone by your brilliant write. We are sure that you will be remembered well for all your wonderful qualities as a man and you wonderful works as a writer and that every tear shed (we muse there might be plenty!) will be a true one! You should definitly pass through that great door!

What everyone has said here has great merit. Especially Susie Palmer. Having laid upon the bed of death, I can only tell you this: it is very simple. Upon that bed YOU may lay in regret and fear and unrest and enumerate what you SHOULD have done. Or, you will lay in peace and be ready to go. It is up to each of us to be certain that we can go in peace. Because it sucks to be there and know that there is unfinished business. It weighs far more heavily upon one than wondering about the legacy we leave behind. It is essential that we live our lives so that in death we go with a peaceful mind. So take care of your business, tend faithfully and honestly to your fields, and know that you are loved. Especially here, among your writing peers. I love your work, and you will ALWAYS be remembered here in my heart.

One thing you leave behind is the legacy of your words. It's good to read your work again Felix. I apologize for being so sporadic in responding.

Oh Felix ... your life is already greatly celebrated!! You're well on the way to mastering the Art of Living... even by contemplating the Art of Dying! Well done ... every moment we die (out-breath) and then are reborn (in-breath)... Live every breath as the gift that it is; then when the great in-breath no longer returns ... you'll have lived each one fully!

For those who love the Lord, the door is open wide. Considering how your writing affects those of us who only know you by your pen, I'll bet you are tremendously loved and valued by those who are privileged to be part of your day to day life. I'm sure the tears when you're gone will be genuine. Bless you my friend...Michelle

Super jar to the subconscious Fee. We all feel guilt when we think about our mortality. This is when "IF ONLY'S" become regressive dear Fee.You give us fair warning for thinking about what we've done to improve living and what we didn't.

Love,
Susan
