Sometimes even all the best intentions cannot stop love from just slipping away...

Slipped Away

Faded photographs and memories

packed in a cardboard box

            old tacky souvenirs of yesterday

                        the ticking of a clock

A ball cap hanging solo

single house key on a hook

                        thoughts of you and me

we could have wrote a book

The TV drowns the silence out

            conversation still takes two

a table set for only one

a sight that’s oh so blue

Queen sized bed is just too damn cold

so on the couch a single bed is made

                        teardrops scald the pillows scent

of where my head once laid

This has a big ole OUCH written all over it. Loneliness is a devil to deal with. You have touched it very poignantly here. Excellent writing Felix. Your versatility is amazing. :) Thank you for sharing your works here. They are always written with so much emotion that I can scarcely find the words to adequately comment. But I do LOVE the writings. Excellent, excellent. :)

Dang, that hurts...I can feel a tearful longing in each line of this piece. Beautiful, and sad. Great work Fee. Michelle

Sad and tearful for me. I know what dedication does to a heart when half of it moves out...nothing is the same as two anymore. Nothing ins't a compound word and living gets tired and old.
but then......life has a past to compare with new love and suddenly...more pep in your step and more strive in your jive.
Fee....hop on your bike and head south.

A deep sense of longing and yearning exists in this bittersweet pen...
Unless you have experienced this seperation of souls, then you would never be able to comprehend it fully...
Your muse is soaring...
Stay focussed and resolute...

You are BLOSSOMING, Felix, but oh dear... I hate it to be in the crucible of the expression of pain and lament... but sometimes it's the furnace in which the gold is purified... and this is pure 24 carat. Your "bleeding heart" is like the precious food that feeds the root of the vine that others feed upon, and your words the leaves that give us breath. You take us in to the "long dark night" of the soul in such a visceral way that I can see myself on that couch with you... in a manner of speakin... though I have not been there myself. You take us where you've been and where you are, Pops... and, more than that, you inspire us with hope because in each and every word there is life and compassion, knowing that you don't suffer alone... you write for others who walk your path with a knowing "Uh-huh... that's just how it is". You are a master of confessional and empathy. Bless you... you are SOARING! Go you! LOL Kate xx

So sad these haunting memories and the places they take you to. Hard to believe they can be packaged in a box shoved under a now empty bed. I have only posted a few things here but the images are metaphorically similar...The poem is worth all the words you could have added to that book.

Wow, Felix, reminds me of "Traces" by the Classics 4(or was it '5'?)...
Faded photographs/covered now in lines and creases/tickets torn in half/memories in bits and peices/traces of love long ago that didn't work out right/traces of tears with me tonight/ribbons from her hair/souveniers of days together/the ring she used to wear/pages from an old love letter...
Love that song and this poem, that expresses the same emotion so heartfelt!

Now I hear sad melodies
Of the song that used to be
So much left for me to see
Slipped before time turned the key
