Underwear Thoughts

There is somthing to be said about sitting at a keyboard in the silence of the night in just your underwear and your thoughts...

I wonder if somewhere out there

Someone couldn’t sleep like me

I wonder if the wind awoke them

Or just some primal need to pee

Did they rise and turn on a monitor

Like a lifeline in the night

Are they sitting in there underwear

Before that field of empty white

Are they lonely are they worried

Feeling down with held back tears

Do they wish they could feel better

Are they filled with deep dark fears

Do they let the forced happiness

They must live from day to day

Take a back seat to their reality

So the lonely night can have a say

At first light I’ll be back in bed

Slowly rise to greet the dawn

Drink my coffee at the kitchen table

Time to put my smile again back on.

*Grin* I have to say this is one of the most ORIGINAL verses I've ever had the pleasure to read... lol... my goodness. However I think that we often overlook the facts that when people are home they are in their personal environments and space. They are simply who they are. And when they turn on a monitor or a television set, the experience they are intaking is a PERSONAL one. One that they value in their most ... um... basic? :) apparel...

For me, it's usually only the 'primal need to pee' that wakes me from the sleep of the dead, but I often think of those insomniacs and wonder how they manage to keep their eyes open so late at night... If only I could bottle my 'sloth genes' for them.

Quiet nights are just made to write or dream. There must be a lot of us out there, sitting sleepless in front of that screen. A clever, witty write!

Thank you dear Felix. This poem is so true of me, except I sit in front of my computer in my nightgown (giggle). My forced happiness is for others to see, but I can only see the void still in my soul. This was written with a light heart, and your funny bone must have been vibrating, because this serious poem does have a touch of humor in it. But it also makes a person thnk too.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom yo ulove, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Much in this one, Fee. And I love that it rhymes,
and yet has a deep meaning that's easy to overlook at first.
Sad, witty and with a touch of whimsy to boot.
Well done!

Sorrow with a sense of humor! If the screen could only hold that which you are looking for, or must you force it from screen to screen hoping for an answer, a glint of human kindness...a charge or spark. And thus you pen again...inspired by the space and humor of the moment, even when your smile waits for morning.
If I had only learned how to drink coffee...the smiles are free!

It's what gets me up early every morning, the urge to pee and then I sit at the keyboard hoping the Lord will enlighten me to write a poem with Him in mind. Another gem of a write.

Great flowing contemplative poem Felix!
It's great to connect with the breath during those wee hours (any hour) and in that connection we become fused with our true essence ~~ vibrating at a rate of knots. Our precious spirits are invigorated in the awareness and our perspective becomes refreshed.
At 4am around the world, many folks are rising for meditation... because it is a highly charged time of supreme silence! Sacred Silence etc.
As is said in you know where: "Be still and know that I am God". Love it!!
And Love to you Felix!
