Looking around at past work, present work, and works in progress it dawned on me how much paper even in this modern computer age we use as writers even conserving and recycling it is amazing..

Took seven hundred pages to finish Red Soil’s story

The Canadian Loyalists took eight hundred more

My poetry has filled two thousand pages

My last book In Deep Water took a lot that’s for sure

A tall pine tree sacrificed her life for my writing

I think it’s only fitting I do a tribute to that tree

In my files my manuscript Devil’s and Demons

Is recorded on that tree’s common bond by me

A story Ju Julia that took at least a hundred pages

Not ready but I will rewrite when I get time

That poor old tree I know passed into history

Just to let me record these thoughts of mine

I’m working on The Last Will of Devil’s Island

My poetry Whispers of the Maritimes I just sent in

Sometimes though I forget to count my blessings

So I thought the tree is a good place to begin

Thank you trees!

This is beautiful, a lovely way to remind us how important trees are and the keeping of our enviornment healthy.

I'm going to go out this weekend and plant a few trees! I've certainly used up more than my fair share of paper...

Thank you for this incredibly thoughtful offering, Felix! One of the best ways to show gratitude is to recycle so less trees are used in manufacture and use recycled paper. And thank you also for your equally thoughtful review...

Your opening statement was one I can relate too very well. No matter what new technology we are given it's hard to give up good ole' paper and pen. :) But like you I think being thankful for the resources we have to use is one of the first steps to living in balance with our earth. The more we appreciate the gifts we are given the better care we take. That's important in all areas of life.

I'm a Tree Hugger from way back. If we stop to think how many trees have come into our life then we'd be a lttle more thrify with our paper products. My! You've been a very busy author. It's a pleasure to know you Fee.

Your words remind me of Native Americans thanking the deer that died (at their hands) for giving itself in order to sustain the hunter and his family.
