The Shipwreck

When the sea is a caldron of the devil’s own soup

While the Banshee winds scream out terror’s at night

When the four bells sound on the main deck bridge

Pray brothers pray, that we may see morning light

Main mast cracks sharp like a bullwhips own snap

Rudderless to God’s mercy in his hands we will trust

Listing  to the port the hull creaks a final protest

Life boats soon capsized to the rolling sea’s greedy lust

Captain tangled in rigging to King Neptune descend

Hold fast all good fellows to we cling to ropes cast

As the goddess of dawn finally lights up the last sight

Tis over, tis over, we survived Satan’s fury at last

You moved us and tossed us like the sea did the ship! Safety in the end, how good. Wonderful done,

This is fascinating Fee, you write about shipwrecks, and I was dreaming about being on board the surprise with Russell Crowe, and this reeks of that scene where they were all being towed under by the mizzen, fair go mate, reeel strange.

The morale of the story is.... I dont need to explain it, well done, Fee, and I love the old clippers too.

Wow. Crisp imagery and spot on language puts us there, Felix. I can see, hear and feel this poem!

Nothing as scary as a storm at sea with a boat that is sinking. Well portrayed in this stormy night that could have been the end but God spared you all.

This was filled with the "eeyarrr matey" soulfulness of a good story. I liked it a lot!

Felix
This reminded me of one of those glorious Greek tales with Jason and the Argonauts...
You took me there with your rivetting narrative...
All hands to the pumps !!

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
