angel's teardrops drip from heaven

fall as rain on fields of silent prayer

another young hearts dreamed died

another politician didn't care

blood soaked bandaged flag of freedom

a blanket on a coffin lid

a puff of smoke from rifles fired

a mother holds a sobbing kid

now eternity is another milestone

twenty-two he'll always stay

a memory lost in threads of history

a cost they made him pay

It is so sad, I ache for them and for their families, but without their sacrifice we would not know freedom and life without freedom is not worth living for even one day. Excellent write!
Take care,
Sherry

So many lives have ended this way. The history books are full of bloody battles. And your are right dear Felix, the cost for lives lost doesn't balance the books at all. You have a beautiful heart sir and I'm glad you share it's contents here. Good day dear one, peace to you. :) Amira

Your well written and heartfelt poem is a somber statement of fact that many of us keep agreeing with ... yet, have found no remedy for. Everybody wants more, more, more! More money, more power, more control, more...? I'm afraid greed and lust have painted the portrait of our bloody destiny!

Felix,
Sometimes it's kinda like watching one unravel the world of sanity before your very eyes, not having the ability to either cut the string or just leave it be and walk away...Neither ever seems to come to thought in a time of war..I cry, I pray, and just wish the opportunity to walk away would come along.
Beautiful work Felix.

Life surely halts at times without fully taking on another day. War is a time clock for so many of our family and friends that goes off without an alarm. Your pain here is part of my day. Bless you Fee...bless those who mourn another.
Love,
Susan

We all weep with you, Felix. But I pray that his memory will ultimately testify to a thread that will go on to weave the rich and vibrant cloth of human endeavour to achieve ultimate goals set for the good of all, however high the price he paid as an individual. I must admit, I DO struggle to see it this way myself... but those enlisted in the forces must surely believe that the ideals of justice and liberation they represent seek to retain order in the troubled world of man. May his great sacrifice be cherished, honoured and considered with great gratitude on behalf of those he sought to serve. Heart-breaking, as is each and every human loss. And yours is ALWAYS the most tender broken heart to express such sadness. Bless you - prayers and love to your sister. You are missed. LOL Kate xx
