Jane’s Song
Jane hides her sorrows in a secret chest
Locked with memories of “could have been”
Whispered promises long since broken
Jane knows no more where to begin
To pick up love’s scattered pieces
Over the years slowly eroded away
Wearing a painted smile to hide regret
As she looks into the mirror of dismay
She might have loved another once
Might have known roses and candlelight
She could so easily have tasted passion’s fire
Knew a man who could have made things right
Now Jane holds a memory in reserve
Knowing someone loved her dearly in the past
That one magic memory stolen in the night
Holds sanity together ‘til freedom comes again at last
Well done Fee well done.
