True story.

I looked down into her young eyes crying

With the pain of a thousand tears

I picked her up and held her close

Hoping to chase away her fears

She was just a little four year old angel

Seen too much sadness in her time

Dragging a Raggedy Anne doll behind her

and a story book of pictured rhyme

"Daddy why can’t I come with you?"

"Please don’t leave me there alone?"

Daddy’s tears washed over her cheeks

As he promised each night he’d phone

Little baby girls just don’t understand

The things that grown up know are true

To give her a second chance at happiness

He did what he knew he had to do

Now the years went by and he stayed close

Watched his princess as she grew

Even walked her down the aisle

When to her own love she said “I do”

He can’t make up for what’s in past

Can only love the best way that he knows

Now she holds her own little princess

Hopes God will let him watch her as she grows

Princess Mother puts her arms around them

As he holds her little angel in his arm

“I love you Dad, I always did, I always will!”

Two Princess now fill his life with  magic charm.

Amen, Felix!! All women are little girls, as you, being the archetypal protective male, will know. We never grow up to the extent of being too big to sit on Daddy's lap or to not needing Dad around in some shape or form... and likewise our daughters with us. Girls get their true sense of worth and self-image and their key sexuality development from the influence of good fathering, and, just as much, the role of grandparents as the "one removed" relationship in the extended family is also key. Your sense of "manliness" is precious beyond measure. It ensures that the beauty of being woman will survive in it's freedom and entirety down the successive generations. A most appealing and wonderfully touching write. I am sure your prayers - and ours!! - will be answered. LOL Kate xx

A beautiful mixture of love and sentiment, in this inordinate composition, of the very real bond between father and daughter..

You reflect the wonderful connection that is possible between a father and daughter...despite time and distance sometimes. That can be such a special relationship and I really thank you for reminding me how lucky I was to have such a unique bond with my own father. Truly beautiful sentiments here Fee. Love Panda :)
