Through a veil of tears he looks back
Wondering where it all went wrong
His darkened room love’s vacuum
Seems the only place he can belong
He’s lived and fought his whole life
Always waiting for a time of rest
Now too many scars are festering
Deep the pain that stabs his chest
Perhaps love is not the answer
Perhaps the questions lost in time
He watches images flashing past
In the dark the sun can’t shine
Sweet would be eternal sleep
Bliss the absence of all thought
Oblivion of heart’s own pain
Sweet love…forget me not.

As long as that big full moon is up in the sky, we poets will eternally wax and wane on the virtues of love
