Walking Thoughts of Days to Come

Ahhhhh fall is the breather between the seasons...

Walking Thoughts

In the air the sweet smell of burning wood

Hardwood, maybe oak…no maple

Yea definitely the sweet tang of burnt maple

My it gets dark early, that sun just painted the horizon

So quick from blues and whites to reds and oranges

Then to black with stars a glitter

Children pack up their baseball bats and gloves

Trading them for street hockey nets and sticks

Sure sign yea, sure sign

Frost on the window one morning last week

Guess should get old car tuned up

Have to check the tires too

Leafs flutter like tired birds in flight

Land soundlessly among their own

In a kaleidoscope of color

Yea it’s time to say goodbye to summer

Time to prepare through autumn

For the long sleep of winter to come

You keep this up and our seasons will start to align!
We had a shot of rough weather over the weekend.
Well the Dogs made it harder than usual with their antics as well.
Lovely write

The smells and sights I feel are right at hand as I read this lovely work. Autumn I think is my favourite season - such colours and everyone preparing for that chill that winter can bring. I was captured. Love Panda ;)

Sigh....................I love the advent of fall, Fee, the end of summer heat in Texas! ('Course, today, it's supposed to be 100 degrees before the next front comes through starting tonight with possible severe storms...ICK, can do without that, were under tornado watches last night.) Beautiful poetry!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Makes me miss the autumns of my youth in Ohio......sigh..............

I must enjoy Autumn through the eyes of others as we do not have much of an autumn. Or as some say here our autumn and spring just blend together and we sort of skip winter...lol
Loved your poem!

Sweet Fee, you are in your element with this beauty of a stroll. From the kids switching sports to the oxidation of the leaves with a palette of artist's colors for Fall , this appeals to all the senses. I felt as though I was waking with your senses guiding me with each word.

very nice walk. Thanks for letting me come along.
You've captured the essence of autumn; I think I like the
verse about the leaves best, but every verse is special.
You've put me in a mellow autumn mood.

Tomorrow Fall enters our area and since my neighbor burns wood to save on oil I have been smelling the aroma of buring logs rather early.
