honesty starts within your own heart and spreads onto the verses of time...

when I touch her I touch the lack of passion that once was

a smile is no longer loving it is only forced injustice

our bed is cold, the distance between two bodies immense

what should have been, could have been, would have been

now only lost in the disillusionment of time and aging our sin

tears cry inside the heart that in the light of day cannot escape

only in darkness no one can see or question the obvious lie

no one really wants to know, perhaps, perhaps, not even I

dreams of what used to be linger like a fog on a sea

hopes and prayers go unanswered at least not to me

ah cruel life, sadness, strife of heart release my heart

to soar again once more or surrender in this world my part

I agree with Birgit and Roger here it is a beautiful and touching poem,
and I believe that the heart of anyone male or female that can write with such feeling will undoubtedly rise again,
thank you for sharing.

I am genuinely at a loss to know how to comment right now, Felix... cept to say that this hurts... one and many it would seem. You have sure touched nerves in the most tender-hearted way, but, true to form, in the most vulnerable and honest way imaginable. Marriage needs to be able to weather the metamorphosis undergone by both partners as they live, breathe and grow - both as individuals and as a couple. I think we cause ourselves and each other much pain by insisting that things either remain the same or refuse to accept necessary change... and all this, I know, is over and above the potential for just "staling of emotion" along the way. Deep and moving this is... and just the tip of the iceberg. You are a very brave man indeed to tackle even the tip of this subject... but, if anyone can do it and engage us all into every heartbeat, then you can. Bless you - you are one who has the ability and empathy to be able to speak for many of us. Your heart is an absolute treasure. TY K xx

so very sad, so felt, the depth within this pain is almost palpable, oh, the loss felt, the need, dreams and more...a stunner and simply feels so all too real and one wants to see comfort return to save the pained heart, here...what a beautifully sadly ever-all-too-humanly honest feeling here and simply, oh,
Hug!!!

In the morning light there is new birth with another day. I understand the stalemate of marriage as life becomes condition for both without what was once passion. I'm so happy that I survived that part of my past and look upon it all as lessons now. I kept my sanity and forgave. Now I waken with myself, alone but no one to blame... and that's okay. I survived. Your pen allows me to see how important it is to forgive and persevere and move on.
Always,
Susan
