For Wanda, still my little princess...

Poem Artwork

I remember a song from my youth

Something about turning around

Turn around and you’re a young girl

With your feet on the ground

I just turned my back for a minute

Turned back to hold a little baby girl

As a father it seems yesterday

That Wanda in my arms was my whole world

Then I turned away to make a coffee

When I turned back she was talking to me

Whispered Daddy I love you best

Snuggled up sitting on my knee

Turned to look out the window

Turned back to see a young by her side

This is my boyfriend Jaimie, Dad

Smiled though inside warm tears I cried

I turned my back for another minute

Turned back to a grown woman standing there

She squeezed my hand as we walked to the alter

This old Dad wiped away a silver tear

I turned around a second time

I turned back when I heard a baby cry

Dad this is your granddaughter Jaimie Lee

My heart breathed a little sigh

Now one I hate to turn my back

I don’t want to miss anything at all

I’m proud Poppy to these little angels now

And I’m walking ten feet tall

Bravo to you and congratulations for being there through the years doing your part as a dad and now a grandfather. Peace and blessings to you all.

Felix you have a right to walk 10 feet tall. And the picture is so cute too. Children grow fast, that if we turn around too often they will definitely surprise us. This poem reminds me of Bobby Goldsboro's song "Watching Scottie Grow" only in reverse. :P Thanx for sharing, and you have a right to be a right proud Poppy. :P

May the Lord Jesus Bless you, and those that you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Fee,

You aren't ten feet tall...et all. You are sky high and your genes look beautiful in your offspring. These prescious moments are footprints of a legacy that you give to the future and you did one heck of a fine job.
I love this Fee...absolutely.

Your southern friend...
Love,
Susan

I can relate to this. Seems like only yesterday when we brought our little girl home from the hospital and now she will graduate high school next spring. To you and all your readers, cherish every day that you have with them. You wrote it like it is in real life. We turn our back and the next thing we know it is almost a life time later. Very good. Dear Felix,

I know the joy of being a father yet I have yet to understand what it means to be a grandfather. I can only imagine how wonderful that must be. What a cute picture!

Love & Light,
Joseph

It's times like these, that you know that all the trials of rearing children are well and truly worth it. One look a face covered in scraping off the bowl is enough to melt your heart.
Precious memories to be etched into the mind for life, bravo my friend, wonderful write.

Oh Fee! You've captured such wonderful and bittersweet moments in this poem. How true it is -- I've had those same things happen, it seems. And the older I get, the faster time seems to go. Thank you so much for putting into words what we all go through. The photo is perfect ... what a beautiful child.
Love,
CJ
