Today He Played Barbies
He’s a big man they used to say
Almost six foot tall he stands
Two hundred and fifty pounds
With huge work weathered hands
He’s seen wars and he’s seen death
Long lean years and tragedies
Stood tall against all stormy weather
Paid his debts and paid his fees
His hair is just a memory of sorts
Beards now a frosty shade of gray
Ah but his eyes light up like a child
When that little girl asks him to play
He’s on his knees dressing Barbie dolls
Talking with a phony falsetto voice
To hear the laughter of her rainbow
To refuse her was really not a choice
He’s a grandfather and a dam good one
Never cares anymore what others say
If it gets Poppy her hugs and kisses
When she asks Barbie dolls he’s gonna play!
I wonder what he dressed them in :) smirk smirk. And did they have a car, or a scoot, acutally there is a barbie car out by the fishpond, been parked there for a week or so.
Its all good fun innit, enjoy the time with children, they grow to fast.
