Lost Christmas Child
(Part II) by Felix L. Perry
His footsteps soon began to falter
He fell and rose time and again
Then darkness fell like an omen
The child now cried in vain
There was no one there to guide him
Lost he finally huddled neath a tree
Little arms clutching the teddy bears
Pretending he was safe on mother’s knee
Exhausted sleep soon stopped his shivers
Dreamt of angels taking him back home
First they took him to see the new born King
The child no longer was no longer alone
When the boy had been discovered missing
The alarm was rang in the church belfry
The search party quickly gathered
To find the child they had to try
All night they searched for him in vain
Close to morning hope began to fade
No one could survive the bitter cold
The child a new-born Angel would be made
Then a cry echoed through the North Woods
The child snuggled still soft asleep
In the snow beside him the image of a deer
A miracle warmth the child did keep
And in the child’s arms not two but one
Fuzzy little teddy bears were clasped
Perhaps he lost the other on his way
Or perhaps in another baby arms it’s grasped.
