Hanging Tinsel, Spinning Hearts

I love Christmas and I am truly looking forward to this one with the joy and anticipation that all grandparents feel, however there were other Christmas's in my past that weren't always as happy as the ones today...

Hanging Tinsel, Spinning Hearts

Midnight echoes off the lonely street outside my window

Snow dulls the glitter of the colored season’s lights

Off somewhere Bing croons of Christmas love songs

While the ghost of Elvis hums of blue, blue nights

Alone I face the misery and the agony of tomorrow

Staring into the sorry spectacle of a Charlie Brown tree

Clumps of tinsel tossed uncaringly against an irony

Each ornament a sad reminder of what was you and me.

When you're blue at Christmas, you are deep, deep blue.
Seems the cheerfulness of the season and everyone around accentuates your loneliness and depression.
I liked the way you have expressed the sadness you felt; you did a thorough job that convinced me!
Glad Christmas is a happier time these days.

I relate to this deeply, Fee. Like you, for the first time in years, I am excited and "feeling" Christmas. Your words hang with lonliness and sadness. Thank God for writing so that we may get it out and purge it! Enjoy your holiday with you family!
Big hug!!

So sad ans so true even today although it may not be you. For in Christmas there are many lonely people, no one to care for them, no one they can think of to turn to. Much is being done, but much is not enough. This is the respectable sin of the world, that for one good deed, there are hundreds that need be done. Victor

A heartbreaking poem and sadly many will have a Christmas as such. Wonderful penned! However, we are glad that this Christmas will be filled with joy for you!

After reading this I'm sure you should come down for a southern Christmas, Fee.....anytime. Even if it's a summer we'll get the Christmas boxes out.
This is so very sad.
Love,
Susan
