Last night at a Nova Scotia kitchen party I was at, I had the pleasure for the first time to sit in on and play and sing with a bunch of great people including a group called the Travelling Bluegras Band, I have never jammed and never done bluegrass before but boy was I hooked.

Poem Artwork

When The Strings Begin To Sing

            The Kitchen Parties On

Four guitars, three mandolins,

Bass player and fiddle that’s for sure

Jamming bluegrass in a country kitchen

Our feet pounding shakes the floor

On the stove a pot of lighting chili

A pot of seafood chowder too

A good old meat pie in the oven

There’s plenty there for me and you

There’s booze and bologna on the table

There’s beer cooling in the snow out back

Traveling Blue Grass band is hot tonight

And that’s a Nova Scotia fact

The Acadians are hot and happy

So fill of love of Friday night

The songs are heard for miles around

It’s a Norman Rockwell sight

Another maritime country party

Like the kind from grandpa’s days

Everyone here is just a having fun

In so many different ways

The young, the old the in between

All feel right at home it's clear
Come on home and join us friends
You know everyone’s welcome here

Hey Fee,

This really brings back some old memories for me. I played rhythm guitar in a band called "Country Grass" for five years. We played country, bluegrass and old rock. Some of the bluegrass tunes we played included "Cotton-eyed Joe", "Dueling Banjos" and "Orange Blossom Special". Alas, I can no longer play like I use to ... that's why I'm into poetry! LOL!

Music has a special way of lifting the spirit, doesn't it? Thanks for sharing this party with us.

Love & Light always and in all ways,
Joseph*

I have a friend from Brittany who plays an electrix mandolin. His name is Michel Mosher. He is awesome and plays Dixie Rebel mandolin. He's a foot stompping Redel with Britanny blood. I love mandolin music too so I'm positive we met before in another life.
This had me jump'n Fee.
Love,
Susan

Nothin' like Bluegrass to set the toes a-tappin'
Glad you had such a good time with "the boys"
My Preacher son-in-law seems to like playing his banjo with some buddies almost as much as he likes preaching. And it's a joy to hear!
Keep pickin'!

It sounds like a good time was had by all, Felix. Bluegrass music is great fun, it elevates the soul with its down-home flavor and upbeat style. Nice write!
Take care,
Sherry
