Have you ever stood in the bow of a sloop

as wind and salt spray showered your soul?

Have you seen the drama of the Northern lights

Where the deer and the antelope stroll?

Have you been snow bound by the Arctic ice

where polar white stretches as far as you can see?

Have you held a newborn baby in your arms

witnessed the miracle of what life should be?

Have you felt the fight of a five pound trout

in a roaring river then set it free?

Have you watched your child walk down the aisle

and your tears she couldn’t see?

Have you flown and stood on a mountain top

felt your insignificance compared to God’s plan?

Have you rescued one single life in danger

or at least have you done all that you can?

Have you made love to the perfect woman,

one you loved with all your heart?

Have you held on when all hope seemed lost

cause someone needed you to do your part?

Now when I look back at where I’ve been

I tend to see the good memories last long

I no longer care of who did what to who

or who was right or who was wrong

As my years drift by, its contented sigh

lingers as I enjoy each day and night

I treasure each and every old memory

But the best is each morning’s golden light
