Sometimes even the act of living each day begins to take a toll...

The Bards Trail

I chose to walk the path least traveled

if that is what you want to know

no easy yellow brick road

to show me which way I have to go

just my will to find a new tomorrow

if I somehow survive today

find another smile to booster

the dark skies as I get underway

slip by the weary huntress moon

who claims to offer easy rest

avoid the traps of despair

laid for me by the very best

stop here and there to smell

the roses and garlic too

offer my handout to a stranger

perhaps my friend it may be you

eat meagerly of bitterness

swallow pride as pride may be

drink not anger’s nectar

resist that cup of poison offered me

laugh with the little children

innocent of what’s to come

the reaper spares the babies

that’s just how it’s done

then when day kisses the night time

these weary bones will find a clovered bed

I’ll sleep the sleep of borrowed solitude

once alone I’ve had my daily weep.

This is wonderful, Fee. My heart aches reading the melancholy tone, but alas, that's a part of life and you've poured it out from the heart and soul. A poignant and honest write here, my friend, as I've come to expect from you. Very well done.
Love,
CJ

FELIX!!!! Your most heart-wrenching writes are so very often your absolute CLASSIC best and most superbly resonant with unforced rhythm and flow. This is an excellent poem with much movement and force behind it... it covers such a wide range of both emotion and substance. As always, spoken directly from and to the heart. And really well crafted. Your voice always speaks with conviction and sincerity and that always makes for powerful reading. Hate the sadness, but understand completely the desire to just "write it out", whether experienced or imagined. Bless you, Darlin, and thanks for mail. Will get back on it! :)) LOL Kate xx

Very wise write Fee and, yes, I'll always stop to share your smile, chew the fat and listen to your mariner tales. If given the chance this would be a wish come true.
Love,
Susan

Refrain: the lion sleeps tonight. Your words inspire the vision of the Majestic lion as he strolles though his days. Instinct alone leads him forward. Lady J
