I guess most Father's feel this way after they watch their children grow but now watching my daughter with her little girl it seems to hit home more for some reason or other...I love you Wanda.........Dad

Poem Artwork

Man Don’t They Grow Fast

(for Wanda)

I watched the child that once was me

Bouncing and gurgling on Daddy’s knee

She smiled and held one finger tight

Man that was a night…oh what a night

I watched her stumble, stagger and fall

Then climb back up no more to crawl

She held out her hands to reach for mine

Man, that was sweet…was pure sunshine

I held her hand at the school bus stop

As she climbed the steps my heart did drop

She smiled back at me said it’s okay Dad

Man, that to me was sad…it sure was sad

She introduced me to a gangly young man

She said…can I go with him, please say I can

I smiled a phony smile and shook his hand

Man, I wanted to say no…can you understand

I walked her down the longest aisle that day

A fairy princess in white for her vows to say

Teardrops on my cheeks and a Dad’s heavy sigh

Man, my little girl grew…grew in the blink of an eye

Time passes us so fast. It is so hard to believe that my son just turned 18 and my daughter 15. Where did all the years go? A beautiful tribute to your daughter and your grand daughter.

In a flash, they are all grown up before we can blink an eye. Fee, I bet she was a beautiful bride. This poem bring a tear to my eye, for I remember a day just the same. Now I'm a Grandmother. The memories are so sweet. Always in our hearts. Beautiful write, my dear friend.

It's goosebump time here at my house, Fee. A touching poem so full of love and truth -- and the photo! What a beautiful daughter and granddaughter. They truly do grow up fast ... much, much too fast. It's gone in the blink of an eye, it seems.
Love,
CJ

I watch in amazement as the circle of life interlocks with the next circle of life and the next, and like a golden chain, the bonds of family strengthen with each link that is added. A beautiful poem for a beautiful lady.
Take care,

Yes! They grow up so fast. With me living away from my grandchildren it is hard. I hear them on the phone or I see the pictures of how much they've grown and still...it's not the same as being there.
Your poem touched that very heart place where family dwells.
Love,
Susan
