Heart Song Across the Atlantic

I stand by the shoreline and I look out to sea;

I wonder, oh I wonder, do you look back at me?

Do your sea birds sing dirges, is your spirit still free;

I wonder, oh I wonder, do the clouds hold the key?

The earth it tilts eastwards, the tides toss and foam;

Why is it that always I feel so far from Home?

Is it your voice that’s calling, your heart ever warm

That’s constantly stirring my soul’s perfect storm?

I write a note in a bottle, toss it out to our Fate;

perchance you may find it, before it’s too late.

I pray that old Neptune on currents of time

guides whispers of meaning

to your heart from mine

As East is to West and as Moon follows Sun,

I complete each day’s path as though never begun.

But waters can’t part us, this story’s not done

Til time and tide turn our two half-hearts to one

‘Oh we wonder, we both wonder

As we look across the sea

If our two hearts together

someday will be!
