Dare To Judge?

I wondered what form to use when I wrote this but decided to speak informally and without punctuation for...my topic concerns literary snobs and art bigots

you see I read something today that really pissed me off

it actually shocked and disgusted me to say the very least

I read another poet say things like there is no place for amateurs, no place for people who made mistakes or don’t edit properly, no place for non-professionals

I read on as she stated that there is  no place on the den for people who have published works that aren’t selling, for people who post their works that aren’t on the market

well to all of that I say she is full of herself and full of bullshit

poets are not born in the classroom, I admire those who do spend years in a classroom honing their skills but without heart and without soul they are just mechanics of words

poets learn by writing and writing and writing, pouring out their life stories, their emotions, their viewpoints and that is what writing is about

poets should have one real goal and that is to reach out and touch the senses and emotions of others

poets all  express themselves differently some like to write simple, straight forward lines and messages others like to write vague and opaque with hidden messages and meanings there is room for all styles

poets are educated or uneducated, young or old, rhyming or un-rhyming, white or black, rich or poor and published or unpublished

poets though mostly should never offer other poets anything less than constructive advice and encouragement

Poets who seem to think that they alone have a monopoly on using the den as their own personal advertising and marketing site while knocking others have no place here

I am a poet, I do not claim to be a great poet or an educated one, in fact I have only a Grade Ten education but when I write I write from my heart and that is what matters to me

When a new writer comes on board we should all welcome them with open arms for they just may be the next classic poet of tomorrow.
