The reality of this situation happens more in more. The kids are the victims when parents split up. I know, been there, done that. It is definitely a sad situation, but the mom's have to be strong and stand by their kids to comfort them. Excellent write.

Oh Fee - the pain of a child in pain is too too much.

I agree with Kate totally - "we "grown-ups" are just little children in adult bodies..."

Uh-oh... rings too many bells for me, Darlin, and with me, my Mum even took my teddy for herself!! Talk about pain!! Even I became my Mum's teddy, so now I'm not sure who the hell I am, just a piece of numbed pain, I think... or a gall-stone, which is what my Mum thought I was for the first five months of her pregnancy... And I remember just how cold it was beneath those bedsprings as well... Acute and so well observed, Pops... I feel this one! K xx PS... am copying and pasting Debby's comments for therapy... !! I have always maintained that we "grown-ups" are just little children in adult bodies... :))

as i read this my mother voice wanted to jump all over it...this is an excellent example to show how the inner child within most adults lays wounded often years beyond the event, this small boy was unable to understand and deal with his pain as a small boy, understandably, he needs love and hugs like Marcia says, (its a natural responce to that trama) and the great healing thing is it doesn't have to come from anyone other than the mind of the self. We all should do inner child love hugs on a regular basis, it helps keep the mind open and free. Thanks Felix for this sad piece, it was a real trigger for me.

This write has such a "real" tone to it Fee that it makes me sad and I want to hug that little boy until his tears and fears all go away. Great job you did with this. But, that's what we've come to expect from Fee.
