Have you ever seen an object that so brings back memories of those teen years when life was all new...

Old Rusty Memory

By: Fee

I walked to the brook

the farm house is gone

the trees were harvested

a few young birch reach up

I found the old road

the one we always took

overgrown now with brush

still memories linger

in its curves and twists

I found it there alone

been sitting there forever

at least since we were

but teens exploring

each other's

vunerablilities

I ran fingers over

rusted metal fenders

yanked open the door

sat behind wheel

on seat springs

that once cushioned

our coming of age

~I like the way you put that. Great image! I could feel the seat give just a bit and I smelled the "old" that antiques have.

our coming of age... I love those lines, Fee. I do the same thing when I go back to Germany; I roam the woods where I used to play and I'm taken aback by how much has changed.
Thing is: Enjoy the growth, enjoy aging, for the wisdom you gain.
You are such a gentle soul!
Love,
Becca~

"...still memories linger
in its curves and twists" ...there's just something about the trees, I will keep this among my collection...You know, if you take a picture of that tree and optimize it in the negative form, one can see the faces of all those who sat by her...call me crazy if you must! LOL! "Old Rusty Memory" stirred me, stirs my memories!
Your so Fee! :)

Love and Peace~

Yes I have my friend and you explained it so well. In 2005 I went back to Shamokin, PA my hometown and walked the old neighborhood which used to see so large but as I walked, it now seemed much smaller with narrow streets, the old school gone, the old neighbors gone. But I saw them and felt them with every step I took...THANK YOU FEE for this beautiful memory. Love and hugs, Bonnie
