Have you ever woke or witnessed those last few hours before sunrise...I know they are usually followed by a glorius dawn but they always seem to entice sadness in me for some reason...

Poem Artwork

The Blue Hours

It’s that last lingering

 hour of nightshade

when even the four winds

 are too tired to blow

shifting clouds try to decide

 the day’s weather

while the ocean yawns

 as tides come and go

most of mankind are still

 ritually dreaming

but somehow my mind just

won’t go with the flow

These blues and the grays

match my emotions

Seem to frame sadness

 in the last hour’s show…

I see the sun will soon

destroy my little illusion

I will draw up shades

to try and pretend once again

That this cold old world

 is bathed in a rainbow

To try to keep heart and mind

from going insane…

You and your works are "bathed in a rainbow"--the imagery and diction of this poem are astoundingly perfect, Fe.

Fee one of my favors thing is to see the new day rise
And at times i do feel blue as i watch the night fade
Yet i feel peaceful
Your words captured such beautiful images
Your words are as magical as the dawn of a new day
Brilliant write!
Wishing you Peace Love and Light...Yolie

Felix, as a witness to more of this time of day than most men, I am enthralled in the mystery of each new day's birth more than the lingering death of the night-- so to me, it is a time of euphoria -- I suppose it is all in the individual perception -- and I do not consider myself to be the optimistic type -- if anything, I lean toward the other side of optimism most of the time -- a sort of, show me type -- your verbiage in this poem is chosen with great skill -- I enjoyed it much -- peace nd love be with you, especially at the time just prior to, new morn -- Jon Michael

You expressed these emotions beautifully, Fee. A strong sense of loneliness in this. Almost haunting.... Love and Hugs,

I too love the last little hour before the sun comes up-- reminds me of my youth-- how I hated getting up at 4:00 am to milk the cows or set the wheel lines for the day! But something was magical about that hour too-- and I never was sorry once I did get up and get going. The wind stops and listens-- and there is silence, as if God were planning-- getting ready, and then, slowly, the world is imagined into existence again. I like your rainbows bathing the night sky-- full of colorful dreams, I bet. You're a sweet guy with a big heart. --Charlie

Yes Fee. I have felt this way when I have awakened a bit too early. At times, this has left me as thought "on the edge" of something; although I'm never sure what. An effective sharing, friend. Thank you. Love and peace to you,

Regis

Fee I could feel the emotions and know that you are not the only one that has experienced this...When I am at the shore, I love to be out before dawn, (it's much cooler then) and imagine what kind of glorious day will enfold..
Dreamers and ocean lovers will relate to this wonderful poem.

Peace, love, and light,
Amber "V"

I kind of liked the First Dog Watch but never the Second one, when the sun got in your eyes was when Charlie wanted to be funny. That's what we called the blue hours, because they gave us the blues!
