If You Listen, You May Hear…
The silent, silk lion, roars out her name
As he protects her sunset golden shores
Nightfall and mother’s call children home
You hear laughter behind screen doors
When ribbons of reds and oranges appear
You may hear a lonely loon call for her mate
Or bull frogs start their midnight orchestra
Like they do every night this time of year
If close enough you’ll hear the water ripples
Of evening tide breaking on the nearest beach
Teased by the whisper of a salt brine breeze
Here, that’s rarely far away or out of reach
All these sounds rock me to sleep each night
Such a symphony no other place can compare
I’ve always loved this place called Nova Scotia
To be no other place can compare…

but you make it sound brilliant, thanks for that,
and for another great poem,
I've only just started reading your work
but so far I've enjoyed them all.
Thanks again
Steve
When I was in doctoral school at West Virginia University, we had a master's degree student from Nova Scotia, a teacher, Bernie McDonald, there one summer. He invited us all to come visit him. Although I traveled widely in Canada, I never got so far as beyond Montréal to your wonderful part of the Canadian experience.

Your words describe somewhere really special…I’ve heard it is one
Of the most enjoyable areas to live in Canada…beautiful Sunsets,
Rolling seas…lush greenery…
Your words say it all…
A favourite line…
“Teased by the whisper of a salt brine breeze..”
I can feel it, I can taste it…
Admirable writing!
