my dog, my miracle
She leaps, an acrobat, catching the fake green snake mid-air, her muscles taunt, her entire body rising upward, about to fly! My weightless space dog defying gravity. Her measureless joy, she catches her toy, each leap a fresh trip to heaven, absolutely present.

GREATLY enjoyed this one, Kathleen. As someone who has been a keen dog person all of my life (I live for my huskies), but also as an aerospace professional (retired) and someone particularly interested in the mid-50s Soviet 'space dog' program, this one resonates with me. As I write this, my 14 year old husky bitch cradles my toes in her thick fur and listens suavely to the tippity-tappety of my keyboard strokes, obviously trying to determine where exactly the potential for a doggie treat fits into the equation... Stormy weather, dogs and enjoyable poems...what more can one ask out of life? -K2
