When mortality knocks on my front door I disappear behind my books, close the curtains and activate security. I'm not worried. Just not home. I can't say how long I'll be gone. I might be by the riverbank or up in the trees. Or looking for that secret door that unlocks all mystery. Or maybe just at Costco while the dog treats are on sale. Or roaming through a park, or reading through my mail. When mortality knocks on my front door, birds scatter and I hit the floor.
