This inspiration of the many who sang the silence of Christmas away from home is also a poem that one can reflect upon for the many who will also be away from their loved ones this Christmas...
ONCE UPON A CHRISTMAS EVE is not only magical as inspired and inspiring poetry but also as the continuation of a treasured memory. I have actually heard of others coming upon a letter describing this "Silent Night" event, or hearing about it from a friend or relative. Enchantment of a very special kind indeed.

Carole, thank you so much for reminding us of how the spirit of Christmas can bring people together if we would only allow it to do so. Beautiful, and a timely write.
Blessings and a Merry Christmas to you and yours. Love and peace. Joyce
Thank you for realizing that we need this at Christmas in 2006.
I'm an aging Veteran, and have heard about this event.
Perhaps, it took place several times... at varied loctions... in each of our 'away from home' wars. I do hope so.

What a timely write...beautiful and a gift to those whom have a loved one over seas. This is also a true meaning of what Christmas is all about...as Kate said, a cherished memory.
Blessings and Merry Christmas...thank you for such a wonderful write.

Touching, poignant and real, Carole. This is where the TRUE meaning of Christmas hits home, in moments such as these precious ones. A memory to be cherished and a peace that one prays is enduring in your heart. Love to you this holiday time. K xx
A keeper.........while we at home celebrate with family and friends, there are those fighting on distant shores, far from home......a beautiful, poignant reminder, done in excellent form. Well done!
During ww11 I was in a hospital in England and don't recall what happened or how it was celebrated Dec 25th 1944. But I can see what you have described as happening.
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
This is my personal inspirational book of poetry. It contains many poems written for family, friends, and relevant life situations. Hopefully you will find some that will encourage and inpsire you in whatever arena you are found in your circle of l
