~The Scent of Christmas~

The house is quiet

filled with Christmas scents

closing my eyes, remembering

how past one’s  were spent

When my children

and  grandchildren were young

they curled around me like pillows

and carols were sung

Then this story I told

to their wonder and delight

She rode upon a donkey

weary and heavy with child

they traveled through the night

their taxes to be filed

They sought shelter from the cold

bitter wind and snow

There was no room at the inn

they had no where to go

Joseph was beside himself

for Mary’s time had come

The long way they had traveled

had become too burdensome

Stumbling upon a stable

filled with animals and hay

Joseph then made a bed for her

and that’s where Mary lay

In that lowly setting

through the night and early morn

In fulfillment of the scriptures

the Christ Child was born

The angles descended from heaven

spreading the news from glen to glen

“for unto us is born our Savior

Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men”

Wishing everyone at AD a peaceful holiday

season, and may the Spirit of Christmas

How wonderfully you tell the old, old story, but with a refreshed and interesting plot; with its expected ending, told in a lively and human way; extolling the miracle of Christ's birth.

Happy times for you and yours today, on Christmas Day, and always. - Bill
