Wandering Thoughts~

Today my thoughts

are wandering in the past

images seem to be mingling

with bits of fantasy

that never took flight

Remembering the journey

the weaving and twisting

just to follow life’s flow

Only on days

when my soul is shrouded blue

do I ponder my choices

made When  facing that

fork in the road

did I choose the well worn path

or the tangled road

of self discovery

where life gets messy

and you feel lost

Many forks have been encountered

and choices made

The pace of my journey

is slowing down

The house is so empty now

and I suddenly feel older

since his shadow left my door

the emotional foundation or layer of this poem gradually builds into revealing your true sentiments, to the point of its conclusion in a quite eloquent manner ...

Time can sit one down and bring forth those memories that become written thoughts...your poem expresses so much more than the emotion of age and reflection...there is a realistic grasp that one can feel as they read through your wandering thoughts...

nice work Carole...

The cloak of time seems to sit squarely upon the soft shoulders of this gentle, yet hauntingly nostalgic write, Carole. The final strophe seems to qualify all of the build-up and shapes our perspective as to the inherent isolation contained within. It seems that a life of choice is balanced now against a life where choice has been forced upon it. As always, your work sings positively in a minor key. Kate xx

Wonderful to read where your thoughts wander, fluttering in these lines back and forth between the past and the present. Can't deny the sense of despair but also love the quiet grace and wisdom that put despair in its proper place. Much gratitude for the brilliantly shared thoughts,

The time to actually ponder and look back at choices and our lifes means in a way we did make the right choices for it testifies that we have survived and are able now to remember the good and the bad.

Carole, you led me gently by the hand through your thoughts -- simply a wonderful piece of work you have shared -- and, as others have noted, the last line, is magnificent -- peace and love to you my friend -- JMW

I really liked this, Carole . . . You took the reader into your confidence and allowed us to touch a part of you that maybe we had not seen . . . The poem, or wandering thoughts, would not have been complete without the last line . . . As the kids say . . . Awesome.
