Frayed like the edges of a scab
I blink the rash into a bright red frenzy
Here it is
that frustration again
the mounting build-up
thundering, hammering, crushing
The edges are fraying under the strain
I wonder what this is doing to my head
my heart
my life

Half-moon impressions on the heels of my hands
neat little teeth-marks
furrowed brow
clenched jaws

How do you let go
and
just
breathe?

I'm choking on my own empirical disdain
for my lack of anything resembling humanity

Brian,

Your opening lines: "Frayed like the edges of a scab
I blink the rash into a bright red frenzy" as well as
your closing:"I'm choking on my own empirical disdain
for my lack of anything resembling humanity"
Dead on! How do you let go and just breathe? Age old question,
that in despite of all the knowledge in the world still proves to be
a difficult task when we are in our own way(or in our own shit). I can relate!

Your anguish is vibrant in these verses, Brian; very compelling. Thank you. Love and peace to you,

Regis

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
