And a spirit's deep whisper on the sea

A whirring voice above the dark muddy lake

Thou art all this,

And your face shows the mark

And the metal sound of melancholy

Seizes my heart

I cry out to the Rayy's tune

In Port Sudan's rhythms

Ya Dani-dan

Ya lailad-dan

And my

Hand's palm

Stretched out to speak

Fills and

Comprises all the seas

A daughter of the ocean

Who with the wind travelled south

On her desert path westward

Still adorning her beauty with the sea's shells, corals and pearls ]

You, beloved of all people

And most dear to my heart

Thou art  my soul

I say

The rain lies on my heart

And I chant

Some prayer full of words

My eyes turn inward

And I see

That all I know is you

But no man will sell his tears at

A cheap price

Thou art my life,

As though I remembered words

Takes up the savanna's warm rhythms
