By Rembetika and Rayy:

I was born at point zero

The village's pride

Chased away like a stray dog

From the universities' gates

When I entered the towns

With the dreams of a youth

For lack of money and connections ya Rayy

My heart's burning pride wouldn't let me

Do a pickpocket's work

And my guts were in the stars

So I took up the gun

Talk to me of pity and I spit in your face

Abuse my father's name and I kill you

Accuse a hungry lion of preying

On the only spoils coming his way

With the only weapon he's got

Accuse me of clinging to this life

God has given

Accuse me of wanting

A woman to keep

And a child to succeed me

With a heart as proud as my own

O servants of God

Lord, ya ruhi ya rayy

For a pair of beautiful eyes

I have killed

And for the sake of some dazzling white

Opium dreams

Remember me, o Queen of Sheba

When prison walls do part us

And cherish this jewellery, sweetheart

And those dresses you wear

For they were the price of my life

I am bearing your arrogance

You there,

Your Excellency the police chief

As you are yelling at me:

"A dirty bastard from the gutters"

And I'm feeling your spittle in my face

Were I not in those handcuffs

And were not on the back of my head

This your polished neat handgun

You wouldn't dare open your mouth

I am Abu Mas'ud sentenced to death in sweet

Iskandiriya

With mercy in my eyes I shall die

Blamelessly

Stark innocent in guilt

I'm a son of the night

But you are

The fathers of my night

One who killed those who murdered him

Has refused to surrender his blood

Take my corpse, darling, and bury me

With a knife between my teeth

See that my son

Inherits

My smile

And falls not a prey to those accursed

Hypocrites

Mahdi, the world is full of hypocrisy no matter the place!
The innocent are victims of an evil that can only be replaced
by a belief in Creator, and His plan. To think any man can be
good enough to do it, is our greatest mistake....Excellent write!

Love,
Eileen
