The Blessing

by Aberjhani — Read all 107 poems by Aberjhani

"The Blessing" is based on a painting by Luther E. Vann and taken from "Elemental," my forthcoming book with him.

Monday, December 27, 2004

1.journeying across the earth I slidmy boat into the boiling rivers of time.Cast the silver coins of my fortuneupon this vast illusion called space.the things I did were the things I became, sometimes a saint, too often a demon but always this man, always this manseeking the peace of an understandingamong eyes and hearts with none to give.2.like a sufi or a wino I livedthrough a thousand and one taleson my way to discovering and discardingthe non-existence of this existence.at the ocean’s bottom a black mantaught me to make salt without tears.at the top of a mountain a womantaught me to share love without fear. as I journeyed and traveled thru the earth, journeying still.3.it was in a desert i believebut could have been in a vineyard when Icame upon my body lifeless and lightlessdissolving into the earth over which I’d roamed.I would have been sad except alreadylove had gathered me inside her beauty, and wisdom entangled us within a thousandarms of pure smoldering bliss. All shouting together:“Happy birthday Beautiful One. And welcome. Welcome.”   The Black Skylark Z-Ped Music Player

This poem carries the sense of inner peace a soul has that knows it's lived its life to the point of self-acceptance, and falling into nirvana's sweet embrace it rejoices. With liquidity of verse as smooth as a gentle stream rolling over polished stone, you've given the reader a waterfall of vibrant images and a most profound spiritual message to ponder. As always, your work resonates with soul.

I did enjoy all lines of "The Blessing", but the first stanza made me reconsider the charter of my traveling.

A thought's developer and inspiring masterpiece.

Thank You for posting this poetic-philosophical Flower titled,
"The Blessing".
