Shadow Candy

by Aberjhani — Read all 107 poems by Aberjhani

The singer said, “Let’s dance.” To which the poet replied, “Yes, let’s.”

Thursday, April 21, 2005

A pair of small brown hills wrapped in skin,

growing fat with the beauty of fire.

Your tongue circles my danger

like some cat out of Persia

stealthing  around two chained dobermans.

Our pleasure strokes the air

until it hisses white

and forms an island made of chanting steam.

Every tear that drops from my heart

makes your tongue hungry for another.

I watch the sticky candy our shadows make,

up there, on the ceiling,

and feel ashamed because I feel no shame.

Fury sweeter than grapes purple on their vine

takes over our singular heat.

Like thunder drunk and heavy upon the soft-furred mountain.

It doesn’t matter if my eyes are closed or open.

I have been lost this blind and this deep inside of you for days.

Spinning around and turning over. Turning over

and spinning around. Begging louder and louder for more.

Aberjhani

Again, the language and the imagery is outstanding, Aberjhani! I love everything!! The beginning "... A pair of small brown hills wrapped in skin, growing fat with the beauty of fire ..." to the end!! Exotic, steamy and like Mitzi said - juicy and tasty!

I'm going to have to track you - I don't want to miss a single of your work!!

"... Our pleasure strokes the air until it hisses white ..." Wow!

God bless,

Sandie.

Very interesting, passionate and lost with many impressive motives.

The esoteric is revealed on the first stanza and duly recorded for
general audience on the second, and on throughtout the last line of
"Shadow Candy" - the depicting of the arcane - of mankind is given to the heedful eyes of the reader's soul.

Keep on posting, Poet, and let the world know Poetry.

Okay. I've read this and I've reread this, and I've gone off and cried a bit and I've come back. You see, I'm not so good at writing love scenes, and so there you have it. I've decided to give up writing.

I've been told I'm a good actress. I once got a standing ovation from my male classmates in an acting class because I got my improv scene partner and the whole room so hot and bothered that he, a husky fella of six foot four, couldn't stand up straight and leave the stage. That was five years ago. Wonder if it's too late for that again. But writing, no, I see by what I've read here, it's time for me to throw in the towel. ;-) ~~Nordette
